Sugar Beach Interiors’ Designers Cathy Jones and
Robin Lowrey Win APEX Awards in Two Categories
Destin, Fla. (December 5, 2006) Sugar Beach Interiors is proud to announce interior designers, Cathy Jones and Robin Lowrey, received awards at the eighth annual APEX Awards, November 3, 2006 at Okaloosa Walton College. Jones received the award for her superb Interior Design of the 2005 Emerald Coast Concept Home located in Sandestin, Florida. Lowrey was awarded for her ability to create modern, high-end interiors and contemporary design on an extensive remodeling project.
The Building Industry Association of Okaloosa and Walton counties, host of the APEX Awards, celebrated their annual event by honoring quality and distinctive construction techniques in several categories that reflect the various professions and expert craftsmanship that is involved in building new homes and remodeling existing homes. The APEX awards strive to represent the pinnacle of professional recognition in this region of the Florida Panhandle and are considered a stepping stone towards nomination for the Aurora Awards.
Jones’s award culminated from a partnership between Sugar Beach Interiors and the builder of the Emerald Coast Concept Home, Compass Builders of Florida.
“I’m very proud of the Concept Home design in that it was an exciting project benefiting a wonderful cause, the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Being honored with an APEX award for the project was a great highlight to the overall experience,” said Cathy Jones, designer for Sugar Beach Interiors.
The Concept Home, a project to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation, presented an opportunity to design an upscale residence, under a tight timeline, that would reflect new building and design trends. Throughout the home Jones utilized materials, products and technology not seen or used before in this market, all the while paying great attention to interior details, from tile and stone to undermount trough sinks and state-of-the art commercial style appliances.
In 2002, Jones received her first APEX award for the design of a model home in Laurel Grove.
Lowrey’s interior design for her award-winning remodeling project reflected the goal to create a modern, high-end contemporary design that replicated a metropolitan city loft suitable for entertainment. The project employed a palette of rich bold colors, Tech lighting and original artwork.
“This particular project was damaged from Hurricane Ivan two years ago and no work had been done to it before I was appointed the remodel design. It is an honor to be selected for an APEX award, especially when there are so many talented professionals in our community,” said Robin Lowrey, interior designer for Sugar Beach Interiors.
This award comes as an addition to Lowrey’s previous APEX Award which she received in 2004. Lowrey was one of only three APEX winners nominated for the Aurora Awards in 2004 which she was later awarded.
“Robin and Cathy are exceptional designers and we are proud to have them on our design team. Their connections with the local community and creative design styles capture the essence of each individual project,” remarks Karen Waterfield, owner of Sugar Beach Interiors.
